Classic International Cruises (CIS)’s Princess Daphne has become the fourth of the shipowner’s vessels to be arrested over unpaid bunkers and other outstanding debts, Seatrade Insider reports.

After Princess Daphne’s arrest in Crete, German cruise operator Ambiente Kreuzfahrten, which had been chartering the vessel, said it is terminating its relationship with CIC and working to get the ship’s 169 passengers to Istanbul, or, failing that, to get them back home to Germany.

"Through negotiations with all parties concerned we are currently trying to achieve a solution allowing Princess Daphne to proceed to Istanbul, her scheduled final destination for this cruise," said Ambiente Managing Director Claus Wilm.

CIC’s Athena and Princess Danae were arrested in France, and its Arion was arrested in Montenegro, all in September.

Reports at the time indicated that Portuguese bank Montepio has decided to stop funding the company’s operations and that crew members were waiting for their salaries and repatriation expenses.

French cruise operator NDS Voyages, which counts CIC as its leading shareholder, has also announced that it is going into liquidation, according to IHS Fairplay.
