Bunkerworld's Unni Einemo Takes Full Time Role With IBIA
The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) Wednesday announced that industry veteranĀ Unni Einemo, a well known journalist and analyst within the marine fuel and shipping industries, will take a new full time role with IBIA as its International Maritime Organization (IMO) representative and Media and Communications manager, effective April 15, 2016.
With nearly 20 years of industry experience, Unni is a hugely popular and respected figure within the industry, and is best known as a founding member, and Managing Editor of Bunkerworld.
"The Association has been carving out an increasingly important and influential role and, as a board member for the past two years, I have really come to appreciate the wide scope of work IBIA undertakes to serve and represent the industry," said Einemo.
"IBIA strives to work with all sides of the industry to find pragmatic, workable solutions to the challenges we face, and to educate and communicate effectively. These are ideals that I share, and I am looking forward to getting stuck in."
Einemo is said to be joining IBIA at a time of membership and activity growth for the organisation, which has been driven by a "small and dedicated full time team," along with support from a diverse board of directors.
IBIA says that Einemo's employment at will help further develop the association's numerous initiatives, as well as bring a number of tasks, which are currently completed externally, in-house.
"Unni's experience will be invaluable in helping drive forward IBIA's expansion on a number of fronts, developing World Bunkering, participation at IMO and in the technical groups, supporting the development of our communications policy and facilitating our work groups," said Peter Hall, CEO of IBIA.
As Ship & Bunker previously reported, Bunkerworld is now owned by Platts following its acquisition of Petromedia last year.
