Vladivostok Bunker Sales Volumes Continue Their Decline
Bunker sales volumes in Russia's Far East have continued their dramatic year-on-year decline, with data from Russian market specialists IAA PortNews showing the sales volume at Vladivostok for the nine months to September 2016 declined to almost a third of what it was in the same period of 2015.
Total sales of bunker fuel at port Vladivostok and its offshore terminals during January-September 2016 amounted to 289,600 tonnes, compared to 785,000 tonnes in the period for 2015, according to data from the Administration of Seaports of Primorsky Territory and Eastern Arctic.
Sales of heavy fuel oil are reported to have amounted to 211,000 tonnes during the period with diesel fuel sales accounting for the remainder of the volume.
One third of the total sales volume is noted to have been sold at Vladivostok's offshore terminals.
As previously noted, the number of bunkering operations at the port is witnessing a less dramatic decline, falling around 14 percent from 2,774 last year to 2,465 for the period in 2016.
During September 2016, bunker sales are said to have more than halved to about 35,000 tonnes from 83,000 tonnes during the same period the previous year.
Diesel fuel sales are further noted to have decreased month over month, falling from 1,742 tonnes in August to 1,692 tonnes during the month of September.
As Ship & Bunker reported in August, the port's January to July 2016 period saw 221,400 tonnes of bunkers sold, down from 619,000 tonnes during the same period of last year.
