Kongsberg Maritime today announced that it has been awarded an Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) contract by Flensburger Schiffbau-Gesellschaft (FSG) for a liquefied natural gas (LNG)-fuelled RoPax Ferry for Brittany Ferries Ltd. (Brittany Ferries).

As Ship & Bunker has reported, Brittany Ferries says the LNG-powered cruise ferry, named Honfleur, will be "the most environmentally friendly" ship regularly operating in UK waters.

"Kongsberg Maritime's project delivery and sophisticated automation and control technology will support the vessel's design to enable optimal fuel consumption, while meeting current and known future environmental regulations," said Kongsberg Maritime.

The Full Picture contract, which is valued at approximately €20 million ($23.71 million), covers engineering, procurement and project management, maritime technology deliveries, and installation on the newbuild vessel.

"This is the third recent Full Picture contract in Germany based on our extensive EPC offering, reflecting the added value that our integration strategy brings to ship owners," said Stene Førsund, EVP Global Sales and Marketing, Kongsberg Maritime.

"The project is a great example of KONGSBERG's deep integration between maritime technology and power systems, which introduces tangible efficiencies during delivery, installation and engineering while optimising day-to-day vessel and fleet operations."

As Ship & Bunker has reported, Brittany Ferries' latest order follows the completion initiative that saw the installation of exhaust gas scrubber systems across six of the company's 10 vessels.
