Maritime logistics provider Inchcape Shipping Services (ISS) has expanded its operations in Mexico with the opening of a new office in Veracruz according to a report published Tuesday.

"Opening our new office in Veracruz is a great development for ISS. The port is a key Mexican gateway to trade and has an excellent strategic location to complement the requirements of our global clients," Tim Cahill, North American Executive Vice President, ISS, was quoted as saying.

The report notes that ISS Veracruz will provide offshore services, logistics and project services and is "primed" for any offshore projects that take shape in the region in the future.

The Veracruz office is the fourth ISS has set up in Mexico.

The office is being opened at a time when new development projects at Veracruz will see the capacity at the port expand by 25 percent by 2018.

"The port of Veracruz is known for its quality infrastructure and high levels of productivity, efficiency, quality and safety which also makes it a great match for ISS. We are looking forward to its future success," Cahill reportedly said.

Manuel Coronado, Operations Manager, is said to be leading the marine operations and will oversee team of five.

Lazaro Souza, Project Manager, will be in charge of offshore operations; he will report to Gustavo Robles, Mexico General Manager, ISS, according to the report.

Currently the port supports container, chemicals, general cargo and is the largest port for vehicle import and exports in Mexico; the port is also the only private terminal in the country that can support repair and dry dock services according to the report.
