The International Maritime Organization's (IMO's) Global Maritime Energy Efficiency Partnerships (GloMEEP) says the second meeting of the Global Industry Alliance (GIA) Task Force took place at IMO Headquarters in London on December 7.

As Ship & Bunker has reported, GIA is intended to support the transition of shipping and its related industries towards a low carbon future.

"The GIA is made up of leading shipowners and operators, classification societies, engine and technology builders and suppliers, big data providers, port and oil companies – tasked with identifying and developing innovative ways to encourage use of energy-efficiency technologies and operations," notes IMO.

The meeting brought together 20 industry representatives from across GIA's 16 member companies in order discuss next steps for ongoing GIA-funded activities, as well as to to agree on new priority areas to pursue under the partnership.
