Braemar Shipping Services' (Breamar's) technical arm is set to begin marketing a new type of liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo containment system, initially intended for use by bunkering vessels as well as small-scale LNG vessels, and the storage sector, TradeWinds reports.

The flat-panel, semi-membrane, prismatic-shaped (FSP) aluminium tank has been given a type-B notation.

Braemar Technical Services Director Andy Bright, speaking at London International Shipping Week, said the company was expecting general design approval from Bureau Veritas for the FSP tank within days.

"We hope to be in a position where we can market the system in the near term," said Bright.

In 2014, Ship & Bunker reported that General Dynamics NASSCO announced it had signed a deal with Braemar LNG BV to allow Braemar to use its patents in the design and construction of LNG marine fuel tanks.
