One third of registered bunker vessels in Singapore, 76 of the 226 total, are now equipped with a Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) approved mass flow metering (MFM) system, according to the MPA's latest records.

This is an increase from December's figure of a little over one in five vessels featuring the technology.

Fellowship, Sea Tanker I, and Sentek 27 were the latest vessels to join the list, having received approval on April 27, 2016.

The use of MFMs for MFO deliveries in Singapore will be mandatory from January 1, 2017.

Last month MPA Assistant CEO of Operations Captain M Segar said Singapore was now "seeing close to 1 million metric tonnes of bunkers being delivered via MPA-approved mass flow meters every month," a figure that represents about a quarter of the total bunker sales volume.
