OW Bunker Launches Physical Operations in Australia
OW Bunker on Monday announced in an emailed press release the launch of a physical distribution operation in Port Kembla, Australia.
The bunker supplier said the move was part of its strategy to further expand its global physical distribution presence in key locations, and follows last week's announcement of new physical operations in Los Angeles and Long Beach.
"This is another important strategic step for OW Bunker's physical distribution operation, in particular as we look to further expand our presence within the Pacific, which is an important region for our customers," said Søren Christian Meyer, Vice President, OW Bunker.
"We are confident that with our proven global model for physical distribution, our understanding of the region and our good relationships with local partners, we can ensure that customers receive the highest quality products and services."
OW Bunker said it has leased a fuel oil tank in Port Kembla, New South Wales, and from April 1, 2014 will offer a full range of products including RMG 380 cSt and RME 180 cSt fuel oil ex-pipe, and DMA gas oil by road tanker.
It will also distribute products by road tankers from the ports of Sydney, Newcastle, and Eden.
"Our physical distribution offering is based on taking control of the supply chain and the entire process from order, through to final delivery to ensure that this happens," Søren Christian Meyer added.
"Based on engaging with customers and partners, we believe that this offering will be of real value within Australia and the surrounding region."
Following speculation last year, earlier this month OW Bunker confirmed it plans to launch an initial public offering (IPO) in Copenhagen.
