Singapore Bunker Sales Slump to Nine Month Low
Bunker sales in Singapore for the month of November 2012 slumped 6.64% to a nine-month low of 3,275,600 metric tonnes (mt) for all products, official data published by Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has shown.
It was the lowest monthly sales since 3,092,700 mt in February.
The sales volume for benchmark grade IFO380 dropped 9.3% to 2.492 million mt from 2.747 million mt last month, with IFO180 making a slight dip to to 92,300 mt from 92,700 mt last month.
Distillate sales were up however, MGO rising 3.85% to 118,600, as well increased MDO sales of 200 mt this month.
Sales of 500 cSt product were also up, climbing for a second month, up 3.21% to 566,700 mt for November. It was the highest sales volume for the product since August.
Vessel arrivals for November were down 0.48% on the previous month to 10,906, while bunkers only calls also made a slight gain, up 0.53% month-on-month to 3,234.
The year-to-date total sales volume for all products now stands at 39,059,600 mt, putting the monthly average volume of bunkers sold at 3.550 million mt, just below the 2011 monthly average of 3,596 million mt.
If the world's biggest bunkering port by volume is to better last years record breaking year for sales it will have to sell over 4.094 million mt of bunkers in December.
That in itself would be a record. The previous record for monthly sales volume in the port, which was set in the May earlier this year, currently stands at just over 3.985 million mt.
