Taiwan's Evergreen Group says it welcomed the eighteenth ship in its line of energy-efficient L-type vessels to its fleet Tuesday.

"The L-type vessels are a major part of our fleet renewal program," said Raymond Lin, the company's vice group chairman.

"The fuel efficient ships have significantly reduced the carbon footprint of our operation.

"The newbuildings will continue to replace old ships in our fleet and enable Evergreen Line to provide marine transportation service in the most eco-friendly way."

The new ship, Ever Loyal, will join Evergreen Line's Far East-Arabian Persian Gulf service.

The vessel is 334.8 meters long and 45.8 metres wide with 942 reefer plugs, a draft of 14.2 metres and a cruising speed of up to 24.5 knots.

Evergreen Line has ordered 30 L-type vessels in a fleet renewal program launched in 2010.

The company, which has also been chartering new ships to replace older and smaller vessels, received the previous two L-type ships in January.
