Russia's Yaroslavsky Shipyard has announced that its new bunker tanker, Tanker-3, is now operational, PortNews reports

Tanker-3 is the last in a series of three tankers built for the Kama Basin Authority under the federal government's transportation system development program.

The ship successfully completed state tests and was put into operation late last week.

It will soon set sail for Perm in Eastern Russia, a major port along the Kama river, and will operate in Russia's inland waterways.

The tanker is is capable of carrying oil products with a flash point exceeding 60°С and diesel and lube products with a viscosity of up to 50 CSt and under 50°С.

It has a cargo capacity of 526 cubic metres for diesel fuel and 56 cubic metres of lube product.

The Yaroslavsky Shipbuilding Plant located in Yaroslavl was reported to specialise in the construction of commercial vessels and warships, and is a major contractor for Russia's Ministry of Defense as well as supplying off-shore seagoing tugs for Russian law enforcement.

The shipyard is currently working on another 16 vessels for various Russian government agencies.

St Petersburg-headquartered Baltic Fuel Company LLC also received a new bunkering tanker earlier this month at Port Kavkaz, located on the Kerch Strait north of the Black Sea.
