Bunker operations have resumed in Houston following port closures in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, local sources have told Ship & Bunker.

"Things have been slowly starting and we've already managed to complete a couple of stems," GCC Bunkers Managing Director Mark VandeVoorde told Ship & Bunker Thursday, whose company this month will begin offering the first 0.10% sulfur ULSFO product at the port.

"We continue to take enquires and hopefully things will get back to normal soon."

On Wednesyday the US Coast Guard issued a partial reopening of the ports of Houston, Texas City, Galveston, and Freeport with some restrictions, including vessel traffic being limited to daylight hours.

"The partial re-opening of the port allows critical maritime commerce to resume," US Coast Guard said.

At this time the upper Houston ship remains closed due to severe currents and hazards, USCG added.
