China Confirms Three Ships Transited Strait of Hormuz
The Chinese government has confirmed that three Chinese vessels have recently transited the Strait of Hormuz.
The ships completed the passage safely with assistance from relevant parties, Mao Ning, spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry of China, said while addressing questions at a press conference on Tuesday.
Responding to a press question on reports that two Cosco-operated container ships had exited the Gulf after transiting the Strait of Hormuz, and whether China had received assurances from Iran on shipping safety, Ning said three vessels had completed the passage following coordination with relevant parties.
“We express appreciation for the assistance of relevant parties, Ning said.
“The Strait of Hormuz and waters nearby are an important route for international goods and energy trade.
“China calls for an immediate end to hostilities to restore peace and stability in the Gulf.”
Recently, Cosco Shipping Lines announced it has started accepting new bookings for general cargo shipments from the Far East to Gulf States.
