GAC Inks Bunkers and Services Deal in Turkey
GAC Turkey has been appointed the agent for the MS Island Sky’s port calls in the country for the remainder of 2015 and throughout 2016, the company announced this week.
The company says it was appointed by Sweden-based Salén Ship Management to be agent for the Noble Caledonia-owned cruise ship's 64 scheduled calls.
The contract is understood to cover bunker fuels, ship agency, husbandry services, ship spares logistics, and passenger and crew support services.
"GAC has our own stand for the first time and business wins such as this help strengthen the GAC brand in this key strategic sector for us," said Ilker Atag, GAC Turkey's assistant general manager of shipping.
According to Per Flodberg, Salén Ship Management’s head of operations, GAC's seven Turkish offices combined cover all of the country's ports, which was a large factor in GAC's appointment.
“GAC’s presence throughout Turkey together with their decades of expertise and focus on long term relationships impressed us," Flodberg said.
"Their ability to provide services to cruise liners in addition to traditional ship agency, such as bunker fuels and ship spares logistics, was a bonus and leaves me free to concentrate on other matters.”
The deal also reportedly comes alongside another successful deal made by GAC UK with PONANT Le Boréal and L’Austral last month.
Earlier this month, GAC also announced that GAC Brazil would be opening up it's sixth office in Brazil.
