The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Nigeria Friday said the bunker tanker MT Anuket Emerald was submitted to a Lagos court as evidence in an illegal bunkering case brought against Monjasa DMCC, and Glencore Energy UK Limited, among others.

Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court, who is presiding over the case, is said to have admitted the vessel to the court's proceedings.

Buba, prosecution counsel (Rotimi Oyedepo), the defence counsel (Babajide Koku), and Senior Detective Superintendent Abdulahi Alaya, as well as Pakhladzhian Artur, the captain of the tanker, are reported to have inspected the vessel together at the Nigeria Navy Beecroft.

The vessel's cargo and log book were both also admitted as exhibits.

The Panama-flagged vessel is said to be owned by Combe Shipping Limited, the beneficial owner is reported to be Alliance Tankers Incorporated, and was chartered by Monjasa DMCC of Dubai, UAE at the time of its arrest.

In June, Ship & Bunker reported that the EFCC had arraigned 14 foreigners, who along with Monjasa DMCC and Glencore Energy UK Limited, and the vessel MT Anuket Emerald, had been charged with illegal bunkering.
