Swedish ferry operator Stena Line and British logistics company Mann Lines will team up on routes concentrated in the North Sea and the Baltic region.

The cooperation began November 1, according to Stena, who said that the alliance will have three components, including a fixed-space charter to Stena Line on Mann Line ships, Mann Lines acting as a sales agent for Stena's route network, and Stena chartering the RoRo vessel Stena Foreteller to Mann Lines.

The Stena Foreteller is set to begin service with Mann in January 2015, the company added.

“Mann Lines is a strong player within logistics and in business areas where we are not as strong," said Anders Peterson, business development manager at Stena Line.

"Stena Line complements in other areas."

Mann Lines currently offers liner RoRo service between the ports of Harwich, Cuxhaven, Tallinn, Turku and Bremerhaven, in addition to a container service between Rotterdam and the Baltics.

It also provides logistics services inland.

“We are really looking forward to see the results of this cooperation, since it will be very beneficial for both current and potential customers and it will increase cargo flows for both companies," said said Bill Binks, managing director for Mann Lines.

"Stena Line is a perfect partner for us to cooperate with regarding cargo flows to and from the Benelux countries."

Stena also announced early in September that it would be adding a third RoRo vessel on one of its UK-Netherlands routes.
