Rotterdam Bunker Sales Drop to Two-Year Low
Conventional marine fuel and biofuel blend sales at the Port of Rotterdam, the world's second-largest bunkering hub, dropped to the lowest level in more than two years in the third quarter.
Total conventional and biofuel sales dropped to 2.35 million mt in July-September, according to data published on Monday by the Port of Rotterdam. The total was down by 8.4% from the previous quarter, by 12.3% from Q3 2022 and the lowest quarterly figure since Q2 2021.
Conventional VLSFO sales lost 17.8% on the year to 810,533 mt, HSFO sank by 5.5% to 790,195 mt, ULSFO dropped by 9.1% to 186,803 mt, MGO fell by 21.3% to 234,690 mt and MDO declined by 10.4% to 144,452 mt. Biofuel blend sales slipped by 4.9% to 183,249 mt.
At the same time, LNG bunker sales surged by 53.3% on the year to 204,418 m3 in Q3, the highest level since Q3 2021. Rotterdam also noted 250 mt of methanol bunker sales in the three-month period.
