Rotterdam Ahoy today announced that its Europort 2017 event will feature a masterclass on the European Union's (EU's) Monitoring Reporting and Verification (MRV) regulations, as well as zero emission, zero energy consumption vessels, and energy efficient design and operation of cruise vessels.

Europort 2017, an initiative of Rotterdam Ahoy and Netherlands Maritime Technology (NMT), the Dutch association of shipyards, and maritime supplies and service providers, is set to be held from November 7 - 10, 2017.

The event will feature a series of masterclasses intended to enable maritime and offshore professionals and experts to share knowledge and experiences on key topics facing ship owners, operators, and suppliers.

"These popular masterclasses have become a 'must-attend' part of the event. In just three hours those attending can learn about the key research and development initiatives that are going on within the industry from experts chosen for their unique, specialist knowledge," said Raymond Siliakus, Exhibition Manager of Europort.

Within the series, the New Environmental Age themed masterclass will take place on Wednesday 8th November, focusing on how companies can use energy management techniques to comply with the EU MRV regulation.

The New Environmental Age masterclass will also see discussions on zero emission, zero energy consumption vessels, and energy efficient design and operation of cruise vessels, as well as dedicated decision support tools "that can more effectively manage energy consumption."

The events agenda includes presentations from Teus den Beek of Wärtsilä, Nick Lurkin from the Royal Association of Netherlands Shipowners, Sebastian Sala from Carnival Maritime, and Giuseppe Stranieri of CETENA.

"These masterclasses are an efficient and inspiring way to get the latest insights into the hot issues facing the industry and represent an excellent chance to share ideas and knowledge, and gain inspiration from a unique learning and networking opportunity," said Sanne de Vleeschhouwer, innovation manager at NMT, of the series.
