U.S.-based Royal Purple has released a new line of environmentally acceptable lubricants (EALs) it claims out perform existing products, the company announced this week in an email statement.

The company said that its line of BioMax EALs was created with its own proprietary additive technology, which purportedly "ensures the lubricants protect and perform well beyond most synthetic and conventional EAL products."

In addition to being U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) compliant, the technology reportedly allows a thicker synthetic film to form, leading to improved lubrication and longer-lasting results.

“As an environmentally aware company we are proud to manufacture a product that not only protects our oceans and marine life, but stays true to the Royal Purple standard of offering the highest level of performance and protection in the industry,” said Vice President of Industrial Sales Michael Crosby

The company said that the EALs are suitable for use on marine hydraulic systems and gears, as well as stabilizers, rudders, thrusters, controllable pitch propellers, and azipods.

Earlier this year, Wärtsilä Corporation also announced that it had developed complete propulsion packages capable of operating with EALs.
