Langh Tech Oy Ab (Langh Tech) says it has delivered hybrid exhaust gas scrubbers and EGR water treatment systems to three 2,150 TEU fuel-efficient container vessels being built at Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard Co. Ltd. (Guangzhou Wenchong).

As Ship & Bunker has reported, the three newbuild box ships are being built for Eimskip LTD. (Eimskip) and Royal Arctic Line A/S (Royal Arctic Line), and are based on Deltamarin Ltd.'s (Deltamarin's) energy-efficient cargo ship design family.

"The in-line scrubbers are multi-inlet installations, where the main engine and auxiliary engines are connected to the same scrubber tower," explained Langh Tech of the scrubber order.

"In addition, the MAN Diesel & Turbo two-stroke main engines of the newbuildings are equipped with EGR systems. EGR is a method to reduce NOx emissions to meet Tier III requirements."

As Ship & Bunker has previously reported, the water treatment technology is based on membrane filtration, which is said to keep operational costs low, producing waste that consists of only small amounts of compact dry sludge.
