Bunker company ExxonMobil Marine Fuels (EMMF) has said its marine fuels now meet the new ISO 8217:2017 specifications for bunker fuel.

The updated standard includes revisions made in the light of recent developments in the product. These include supplementary cold flow data for distillate fuels, a new class of distillates allow for bio-fuel blends and the inclusion of hydrocarbons from synthetic or renewable sources.

The company says that it now includes the cold filter plugging point and cloud point of distillate fuels on its bunker delivery notes.

"Meeting the new ISO 8217:2017 specifications allows us to support our customers' fuel needs and aids in preventing safety issues as any material at a concentration that is harmful to personnel, jeopardizes the safety of the ship, or adversely affects the performance of the machinery, has been removed," said Iain White, EMMF's global marketing manager.
