Dromon Bureau of Shipping (DBS) has announced that the Liberia Registry has approved the company to provide verification services on the upcoming International Maritime Organization (IMO) Data Collection System (DCS).

Under the approval, DBS will be able to review Ship Energy Efficiency Management Plans (SEEMPs) and verify the reported data for all Liberian-flagged ships.

As Ship & Bunker has reported, DBS is already accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) to provide worldwide services associated with EU's monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) regulation.

"Following this approval, ships flying the Liberian flag can have DBS as a single Verification Body for both the IMO DCS and the EU MRV Regulation schemes," said DBS.

"Since both schemes (i.e. the IMO and EU) have a number of similarities, the verification process can take place at one verification audit using the same source of data therefore, reducing the regulatory burden."
