2 Vessels Detained for Illegal Bunker Transfer in Malaysia
The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) says it has arrested two foreign-flagged vessels in Pengerang waters for illegally transferring fuel oil.
"One of the vessel, registered at Malabo in Equatorial Guinea, together with its six Myanmar nationals and two Indonesian crewmen, was transferring 500 metric tonnes of Marine Fuel Oil to a Guadeloupe registered vessel," said Captain Amran Daud, maritime enforcement chief in Tanjung Sedili.
"The agency also detained the vessel, three Indonesians and a Myanmar national crewmen to assist with the investigations."
Daud stated that the two vessels were observed by an MMEA patrol boat on Monday at around 1:10am about 1.8 nautical miles southeast of Teluk Ramunia.
In April, six fishing boats and 140,000 litres of illegally purchased diesel were seized in a MMEA raid.
