Spanish dockworkers unions have called off strike action scheduled for March 6 and 8 - the second time in as many months, World Maritime News reports

Last month, Spanish port workers called off planned strike action that was initially set for February 20, 22, and 24, only to issue a new promise of strike action for this month, which has now also been called off for March 6 and 8.

Latest strike action is reported to have been halted as a result of a lack of support from opposition parties for a royal decree on port reform, which was approved by the Spanish Council of Ministers on February 24.

With new dialogue on the reform now able to proceed, the country's dock worker unions are said to have agreed to suspend planned strikes as a sign of goodwill.

With strikes for this month set to be staged on March 6, 8, 10, 13, 15, 17, 20, 22, and 24, the union did not disclose whether the remaining scheduled strikes would still go ahead.

At this stage, it is unclear what, if any, impacts would be felt on the regional bunkering market as a result of strike action.
