Singapore Monthly Bunker Sales Up 3.5% Y-o-Y
Singapore saw another strong month of bunker sales in April, according to the latest preliminary data from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), with 4,253,300 million metric tonnes (mt) sold for all products.
The total is an increase of 3.5 percent year-over-year, and it also means the world's biggest bunkering port by volume has seen sales in excess of 4 million mt in 12 of the last 14 months.
As usual IFO380 made up the majority (75 percent) of sales with 3,185,100 mt sold, while sales of 500 cSt material hit 876,600 mt - a typical 20 percent of the overall volume.
There were 3,495 calls for bunkers in April, down on the 3,641 calls in April 2016, but the average stem size this year grew 8 percent to 1,216 mt, compared to an average stem size of 1,128 mt in April 2016.
Overall year-to-date sales in Singapore now stand at 16,903,800 mt, 6 percent higher than they were at the same point last year.
