Duo Partner on Inland Electric Vessel Charging in China
Wah Kwong NatPower Holdings Limited and Huzhou Wuxing Ruituo Energy Co have signed an MOU to develop electric vessel charging infrastructure across inland waterways in Zhejiang, China.
The project will see the rollout of shore-based charging and battery-swapping facilities along key container and bulk routes, starting in the Hangzhou-Jiaxing-Huzhou region, the companies said in an email statement on Thursday.
The infrastructure is intended to support battery-powered vessels by cutting turnaround times and ensuring reliable access to power at ports and logistics hubs.
The partners will also introduce a digital platform to monitor energy use and emissions.
Huzhou, already advancing vessel electrification and grid upgrades, is expected to serve as the initial hub for expansion, as the companies look to address infrastructure gaps limiting wider uptake of electric inland shipping
