Black Sea Player Looking for Partner to Develop Physical Bunker Business
Georgian marine fuels and lubricants supplier, Batpetrol LLC (Batpetrol), said in an emailed statement it is looking for an international partner to develop bunker supply in the country.
"Currently we are searching [for] international physical bunker suppliers as co-investing partners to develop bunker supply business by bunkering tankers in Georgia, and interested companies are welcome to negotiate possible cooperation prospects," said Anri Gogitidze, Managing Partner at Batpetrol.
The news comes alongside an announcement that the company arranged a notable delivery of gasoil to a U.S. navy ship USS Porter (DDG-78) at berth in the port of Batumi.
"Generally, physical bunker supply by tankers is not available in Georgian ports from beginning of 2013," explained Gogitidze.
"Vessels arriving to Georgian ports are supplied with MGO by tank trucks only at the moment."
Batpetrol says it owns a number of fuel supply stations in Georgia, and delivers MGO that complies with ISO 8217:2010 Marine Distillate Fuels, DMA standard, and the European Union (EU) directive for a maximum 0.10 percent sulfur content.
