Japanese Bonded Bunker Sales Up in June
June sales of bonded bunker fuel in Japan rose by 0.9 percent year-over-year to 328,407 kiloliters (2.07 million barrels), Platts reports.
Volumes of the fuel, which can only be sold to ships on international routes, were down 1.4 percent from May.
Bonded marine diesel oil sales rose 9.4 percent to 6,037 kiloliters year-over-year.
Japan imported 6,157 kiloliters of bonded bunker fuel in June, after having no imports of the fuel a year earlier.
Platts reported last month that premiums for 380 CST bunker fuel in Japan was selling at its lowest premium over Singapore since December, $24.13 per metric tonne (mt), as sellers reduced prices to match strong supply levels with modest demand.
As of Monday, the fuel was selling at $632 per mt in Tokyo, a premium of $30 over Singapore, according to Ship and Bunker data.
