Petronas LNG Seals Cooperation with Argo and Eastport Marine on LNG STS Services
Petronas LNG Sdn Bhd (Petronas LNG), through its subsidiary Petronas LNG Ltd. (PLL), has signed a two-year service agreement with Argo Engineering Sdn Bhd (Argo Engineering) and Eastport Marine Sdn Bhd (Eastport Marine) to provide liquefied natural gas (LNG) ship-to-ship transfer services in Labuan, Malaysian media reports.
Eastport Marine is noted to be experienced in bunkering and ship-to-ship operations, and is the sole license holder for LNG bunkering and ship-to-ship services at Brunei Bay, Labuan.
"This ship-to-ship transfer service agreement is Petronas' first collaboration in providing flexible delivery solutions that goes beyond the conventional selling and delivering of LNG," said Ahmad Adly Alias, Chairman of PLL.
"LNG ship-to-ship transfer services is an emerging trend to cater to the needs of small scale LNG requirements."
The new partnership is expected to enable PLL to better respond to changing market demands within the LNG industry, including LNG shipping solutions.
In May, Petronas signed an agreement with Gas4Sea to identify potential business opportunities and explore a collaboration on the promotion of LNG as a preferred marine fuel.
