Aydin Yildiz, head of marine at Petrol Ofisi, and Gunay Turan, the firm's bunker trading manager, stepped down from their roles earlier this month, local sources tell Ship & Bunker.
The new role will include leading the firm's training agenda, coordinating the group's readiness for new fuels and managing and maintaining ISO 9001 and ISCC certification.
The government is understood to be preparing to set up the new rule, and has already distributed some funds to barge owners to subsidise the investment.
The shipping and bunkering industries are engaged in soul-searching over what can be salvaged from global decarbonisation efforts after last month's decision to delay.
